Cosme Biotech Pvt. Limited is a rapidly growing biotech company and started its operation in the year 2002. The company has state of the art production facility designed to the international standards for class 10,000 and class 100,000. The LAF workstations are class 100 with sterile environment for production .
The company engaged itself in the production of tissue culture of banana, potato, ornamental plants and diversified its production in VAM biofertilizer in the year 2005.
Infrastructure
The factory is based in lush green environment on the outskirts of Bicholim town ,Goa , India. The total built-up area of the factory will be 1500 sq. Meters with a plot area of 3300 sq. meters. The factory will have a capacity of 2000 tons per annum of Mycorrhizal biofertilizer and the production capacity can be doubled within a short time for which provisions are kept for further expansion and up gradation keeping in mind the growing demands. The Technology
Cosme Biotech Private Limited under license from TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) New Delhi, has commenced commercial production of Mycorrhizal biofertilizer for agriculture purpose starting from April 2006. This unique technology jointly developed TERI and DBT (Department of Biotechnology), New Delhi facilitates the production of Mycorrhizal fungus (Glomus intraradices) under laboratory conditions as against the conventional greenhouse production or in pots which is very cumbersome. This ensures purity of the fungal species without any cross contamination. Strict quality parameters like spore count, infectivity potential,
percentage colonization etc. shall be adhered to, before the product is made available to the farmers. Large quantities of Mycorrhizal biofertilizer can be produced in small area making it economical and commercially viable.
