Mycorrhiza

What is Mycorrhiza?

Mycorrhiza literally means “fungus roots”. It is a symbiotic, permanent, non pathogenic association between specific fungi and the roots of the plants. Mycorrhizal fungi mobilizes nutrients like phosphorous, Nitrogen, Sulphur and Micro elements such as Iron, Zinc, Copper, Cobalt, Molybdenum etc. and make them available to plants. They, in turn, receive carbohydrates and growth promoting substances for their survival and growth.

Endomycorrhiza are also caleed ‘Vasicular Arbuscular Mycorrhiza’ as they form Vesicles and Arbuscules in the root. Arbuscules are the sites of exchange of nutrients between the plants and fungus and vesicles are the storage organs. Mycorrhiza colonize the roots and groe as outward extension into the surrounding soil. The wide dispersion of fungal Hyphae into the soil enables it to excess soil volume upto 1,500% larger than the roots of the plants.

“Shubhodaya” falls in the category of Endomycorrhiza
